Pestalotiopsis Microspora has been observed eating polyurethane in both aerobic and anaerobic environments. This is noteworthy because out of the 200+ species of plastic eaters this is so far the only one we know of that can do so without the use of oxygen, making it an ideal candidate for mycoremediation.
